Polhawn Fort, Cornwall – A beautiful backdrop for your Special Day…
Back in May I had the opportunity to work with the lovely Laura at Kept Weddings With Laura, Laura is a professional wedding planner , consultant and coordinator covering Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. She had a vision to create a beautiful elegant mood board showcasing work from local suppliers and her vision was nothing short of gorgeousness!!!
I asked Laura to tell me about her vision ….
“The changes in the last year or two has made many people appreciate the small things in life. We have all had those low moments of uncertainty and boredom but through it all, couples have had each other. I wanted to capture the newfound appreciation couples have for one another and the local environment that surrounds them.
Cool pebbled beaches and cloudy sunsets on a September eve set the muted tones for this styled shoot. There’s something quite dramatic and awe inspiring watching purple hues emit through the fluffy grey clouds while appreciating the beautiful textures that decorate the South West coast.
A fluffy bouquet and beach inspired jewellery were a feature against the delicate low cut dress. Hair designed to represent cascading waves and subtle makeup that contrasts against the eyes created an elegant look to an alluring bride.
Polhawn Fort is the epitome for couples who want to stand out but not be out of place which is the focus of this concept. It’s majestic stone walls blended against the jagged cliffs set for a striking backdrop that speaks for itself. Bringing the outside in, the tablescape is scattered with natural stoney shades and crisp glassware which is imitated through the design of the tiered wedding cake.“

Wedding Flowers
Vita from Flower La Vita told me a bit about the beautiful bouquet she designed for the shoot….
“Dried flowers are very trendy and becoming more and more popular. This dried bridal bouquet was created using lots of different types of flowers and lovely textures. Colours represented the sea, sand, waves and clouds.
Types of flowers…. stop grasses, pampas grass, limonite, gypsophila, bunny tails and canary grass.”

@Bridalhairbyrhian created this stunning hairstyle, she is defiantly worth checking out if you are looking for an amazing, unique style for your Wedding.
Rhian says…… “I had the pleasure of being part of an incredible shoot organised by @keptweddingswith Laura – she then sent me a Pinterest of hair ideas for the theme ‘Edgy Elegance’ a lot of the hair styles were pull through braids so I knew instantly what style I was going to create. I remember learning a style from one of @beyondtheponytail lives with @kimannesley.hair which involved a twist at the top of the braid to cover the elastic and a soft wave to finish off the half up look. Laura also suggested using pearls to go with the theme so I placed some pearls from @hampshirejewels in-between the style which worked perfectly. I absolutely loved this shoot at Polhawn Fortand meeting new suppliers.”
Wedding Jewellery
Gorgeous jewellery made by the talented Isabella Day Goldsmith, these pieces really worked with the theme of this shoot. The textures and colours complimenting the sea and stone surrounding the beautiful Fort.
Wedding makeup
Natalie from Lashed by Nat tells us the inspiration behind Jodie’s gorgeous makeup.
“The inspiration behind the makeup design was purple / lilac and natural tone, which wasn’t a normal bridal palette. I wanted to create something elegant and bridal though with a colour twist on the eyes. Muted tones with a satin finish to compliment Jodie’s complexion. Flawless skin with contouring for that perfect photo finish.”
And this beautiful dress from Amica Bridal Boutique – A dress by Ladybird who are part of the Pronovios group based in Barcelona. The dress is a light weight gown with lace bodice and flowing skirt.

The inside of Polhawn Fort is unique and cosy, the interior was designed to create a beautiful environment for Wedding Guests to enjoy the beauty of this environment.
Wedding Beach Bliss
At the end of the day we got down to my favourite place – the beach. A perfect end to a wonderful day……
